One was enough for the Rockies on Wednesday.
They did have to work overtime, but in the 11th inning, with one out, Chris Iannetta delivered the home run that allowed the Rockies to close out their first road trip of the season with a 1-0 victory.
Did you know:
-- Four times the Rockies have won a 1-0 game thanks to a home run, and three times Chris Iannetta has delivered that home run. There was Wednesday in Tampa Bay; July 4 last season with one out in the seventh against the Giants at Coors Field, and, in his first tour with the Rockies, on Sept. 28, 2013 against the Dodgers with two out in the sixth.
--Joe Koshansky delivered the other home run for the Rockies in a 1-0 win. He delivered with two out in the fourth against the Padres at Coors Field on Sept. 17, 2009.
--The Rockies now have one win in six games all-time at Tropicana Field. That leaves the Rogers Center in Toronto is the only ballpark in which the Rockies have played a regular-season game and never won. They are 0-9 on the road against the Blue Jays.
-- The only other Rockies with mutliple 1-0 victories in which they drove in the only run are Todd Helton and Troy Tulowtizki. They both did it twice. Helton doubled home the game's only run with one out in the fourth inning of an Aug. 12, 2002 game at Florida, and doubled home the only run with one out in the first inning of a July 6, 2009 game against the Nationals at Coors Field. Tulowitzki singled with one out in the 10th inning for a walk-off win against the Dodgers on Sept. 14, 2008, and had a sacrifice fly with one out in the third inning of an April 12, 2014 game at Coors Field against the Giants.
--The Rockies have eight 1-0 victories at home -- seven at Coors Field and Aug. 10, 1994 against the Braves at Mile High Stadium. It was the next-to-last-game at Mile High. The players went on strike two days later and did not returning until the 1995 season, and opening of Coors Field.
--The Rockies had six 1-0 victories between July 9, 2005 and June 12, 2010 -- all at Coors Field.
--The first 1-0 win in franchise history was May 8, 1994 at San Diego. Mike Kingery drew a bases-loaded walk with two out in the ninth for the only walk-off walk among the 22 1-0 victories.
--The Rockies did win a game 1-0 without a game-winning RBI. On June 11, 2008 Yorvit Torrealba flied out to left field for the second out in the bottom of the ninth. Garrett Atkins tagged up and headed home, scoring the game-ending run when catcher Bengie Molina was charged with an error on the throw from left fielder Fred Lewis.
--The Torrealba game was one of two walk-off, 1-0 wins in franchise history. On Sept. 14, 2008 against the Dodgers at Coors Field, Tulowitzki delivered the game-ending single.
Rockies 1-0 Wins
As exciting as a 1-0 win may be, one is rarely enough for a win. The Rockies are now 22-344 when scoring one run. The odds favor the Rockies if they score five or more runs in a game. They are 1,508-555 scoring at least five runs. They have never lost a game in which they scored 14 or more runs, going 71-0, and are 109-2 scoring 13 or more runs..
