Peter Lambert, the Rockies' second-round draft choice in 2015 and top-ranked pitching prospect in the organization, will make his big-league debut against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. He was 1-0 in his last five starts at Triple-A Albuquerque, but had a 3.69 ERA, walking six and striking out 28 in 31 2/3 innings.
Veteran Luis Quintana draws the assignment for the Cubs. He is 1-3 in his last seven starts with a 4.19 ERA in that stretch, and winless in his last five starts. He is 2-0 in three career starts against the Rockies, but has a 4.58 ERA in those games.
Chris Iannetta has the most extensive history against Quintana among Rockies players and it's not real good. While he has worked Quintana for five walks in 23 plate appearances, Iannetta is hitting only .111 with five strikeouts in 18 at-bats. He has two hits -- both singles. Ian Desmond (2-for-4) and Trevor Story (3-for-5) have had success in limited exposure to the Cubs lefthander.
