Jon Gray has shown progress this season, having avoided that ugly inning that plagued him a year ago. He is 3-1 in his last seven starts, and with Kyle Freeland having been sent to AAA Albuquerque the Rockies need Gray to take that next step back to 2017 when he was 10-4.

Storman has pitched better than a 3-6 record. He has a 2.74 ERA but he does have to pitch out of jams. He has allowed 95 baserunners -- 26 walks, 66 hits and three hit batters -- in 65 2/3 innings.

The Blue Jays roster has combined for only 44 plate appearances against Gray, including 22 plate appearances by former Phillie Freddy Galvis, who also has six of the 11 hits Gray has allowed current members of the Jays' lineup. Stroman has never faced a current Rockies player.
