The Rockies open a three-game series Tuesday night against the Pirates, featuring manager Clint Hurdle. Hurdle is a familiar face to the Rockies. A former Rockies hitting coach, he also managed the team from 2002 until mid-season 2009, and guided them to the only NL pennant in franchise history in 2007.
The Pirates have yet to announce their starting pitcher for Wednesday night.
The Rockies have only three players on the injured list while 10 Pirates are sidelined, including starting pitchers Jameson Taillon and Trevor Williams.
The Rockies arrive with a four-game losing streak, having lost four of five games on the current road trip. Four of the five games have been 1-run decisions, including two extra-inning games in two games at Boston. The lone exception to the one-run margin was Sunday's 7-5 loss to the Phillies. The Pirates won the last three games of their four-game series at San Diego.
