On Deck: Rockies at Braves, Friday, Saturday and Sunday

The Rockies are in Atlanta for a three-game series. They hosted the Braves earlier in the month. The Braves won both games that were played. The final game of that series was postponed by snow. It will be made up at Coors Field as a day game on Aug. 26. There are some familiar faces on the Braves coaching staff -- Walt Weiss is the bench coach and Eric Young the first base coach.

The Rockies have been one of the hotter teams in MLB. They have won eight of their last 10 games, taking series from the Padres, Phillies and Nationals.

The Braves are returning home after a road trip that concluded in Cincinnati on Thursday night. They lost two of three to the Reds.

The Rockies face Max Fried in the opener. Fried is unbeaten, including a win at Coors Field on April 9 when he allowed one unearned run in six innings.

Denver native Kevin Gausman will get the start against the Rockies on Sunday. He was scheduled to start the game at Coors Field that was snowed out.

The Rockies have five players on the injured list, the fewest this season. Braves reliever Jonny Venters is eligible to come off the injured list this weekend.

The Rockies did sweep a three-game series at Atlanta last year.
