It's a first-time experience for both teams.
Jeff Hoffman, who will move into the fifth spot in the rotation, has never faced the Orioles. This figures to be the first of at least three starts Hoffman could receive to regain a full-time spot in the rotation. The Rockies have been able to use just four starters recently because they were off three times in the last 11 days. They, however, began a stretch of 13 consecutive days with a scheduled game on Tuesday in Pittsburgh, and have only one off day from that opener in Pittsburgh last Tuesday until June 17.
Means is facing the Rockies for the first time. The rookie lefthander leads the Orioles in wins. He and Andrew Cashner (4-2) are the only Orioles pitchers with a winning record. Means also leads the team with a 2.68 ERA.
