Shortstop Ryan Vilade, the No. 8-ranked prospect in the Rockies system, and pitcher Robert Tyler, ranked No. 18, headline the 2018 roster for the Rockies' High-A affiliate Lancaster (Ca.). Vilade was the Rockies second-round selection (48th pick overall) out of Stillwater (Ok.) High School in 2017 when they did not have a first-round selection. Tyler was a supplemental pick between the first and second rounds out of the University of Georgia in 2016.
The roster also includes Casey Golden, who was the Low-A South Atlantic League Player of the Year at Asheville, where he hit 34 home runs and stole 24 bases.
Infielder Luis Castro returns after wrapping up in 2018 season by hitting .354 in 27 games for the Jethawks. Also returning from last year are catcher Joel Diaz, and infielder Carlos Herrera.
Scott Little will make his debut as the Jethawks manager. Hitting coach Tom Sutaris and pitching coach Dave Burba will be back for a second season at Lancaster. Frank Gonzalez, in his seventh season in the Rockies organization, also returns to Lancaster for a second season as the supervisor of development.
