Farm Report: Isotopes on the Offensive in Salt Lake on Saturday

The Albuquerque Isotopes didn't merely sweep a doubleheader at Salt Lake City on Saturday.

They scored 24 runs, hit eight home runs, and rallied from a 7-1 deficit in Game 1.

Pat Valaika, who has hit safely in all four games since being optioned back to the Isotopes by the Rockies, hit a home run in Game 1, and finished the day going 5-for-9 with five RBI. He is 8-for-16 with three home runs and seven RBI in the four games.

No. 1 prospect Brendan Rodgers (.321) was 5-for-8 with six RBI in the two games, hitting a home run in each, and Yonathan Daza (.434) was 6-for-8 with three runs scored, four RBI and a home run in Game 2.

Sam Hilliard continued his recent power surge. Hilliard (.232) hit his eighth home run of the season -- a three-run shot in the fifth inning of Game 1 that tied the score -- and his sixth home run in the last seven games.

In Saturday's Games:

AAA Albuquerque (14-9) swept Sale Lake City (Angels), 10-7 and 14-12 (eight innings). Mitch Horacek (13.97) was credited with the win in Game 1, working two scoreless innings. ChiChi Gonzalez (6.63) started the game, and allowed seven runs on nine hits and three walks in 2 1/3 innings. Dave Holman (11.74) started Game 2 and allowed eight runs on nine hits in two innings. Jesus Tinoco (3-0, 3.48) was credited with the win and Yency Almonte (6.35) earned his second save. Nelson Gonzalez (5.02) made his 100th appearance with the Isotopes, second in franchise history.

AA Hartford (11-11) split a doubleheader with Harrisburg (Blue Jays). The YardGoats won Game 1 6-2, and lost Game 2 3-0. Colton Welker (.325) was 4-for-5 with a run scored and RBI in the two games. Ryan Metzler (.333) was 3-for-7 in the two games, including a home run in Game 1. Jack Wynkoop (2-3, 3.54) earned the win in Game 1, allowing two runs on six hits, striking out five in seven innings. Jordan Foley (1-4, 8.55) lost Game 2, allowing one run on three hits and a walk, striking out two in three innings.

High-A Lancaster (11-12) won 10-8 against Visalia (D-backs). Reliever Moises Ceja (2-0, 3.00) earned the win in relief, allowing one run on three hits in 1 2/3 innings. Tommy Doyle (0.87) earned his sixth save, allowing one run on one hit and two walks in 1 1/3 innings. Lucas Gilbreath (2.38) started and allowed four runs, one earned, on six hits and four walks, striking out three in four innings. Matt Hearn (.333) was 3-for-5 with a run scored and RBI. Taylor Snyder (.238) was 2-for-4 with his second home run and three RBI. Sam Bouchard (.232) was 2-for-5 with a home run.

Low-A Asheville (7-15) lost 5-1 at West Virginia (Orioles). Nick Bush (1-2, 7.56) allowed four runs on four hits and three walks, striking out five in four innings. Grant Lavigne (.281) was 3-for-4 with a run scored.
