Quick Hits: Rockies Overpower A's in 6-3 victory

SCOTTSDALE, Az. -- With three home runs providing the offense, the Rockies beat Oakland 6-3 on Monday afternoon.

-- Ian Desmond was 2-for-3 with three RBI, all coming on his three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth, which gave the Rockies a 3-2 lead.

--After the A's tied the score, Noel Cuevas hit a two-run home run to put the Rockies up 5-3, and Elliot Soto, brought over from the minor-league camp for a day, also homered.

-- Jon Gray started and had three strong innings, but in his fourth inning of work, he gave up three runs and retired only two batters. Gray gave up five hits, but did not walk a batter and struck out four. Gray has a 2.13 ERA for the spring.

--Nolan Arenado was 2-for-3 with a double.

--The Rockies have their first off day of the spring on Tuesday, which is just as well. It began raining Monday night and is forecast to rain until early Thursday.
