The Rockies tendered a contract to third baseman Nolan Arenado and the five other remaining potential arbitration cases in advance of Friday’s 5 p.m., deadline to make an offer. They, however, non-tendered left-handed pitcher Sam Howard, removing him from the big-league roster.
The moves came the day after relief pitcher Chris Rusin passed up arbitration to sign a deal worth $1.687 million.
In addition to Arenado, the Rockies tendered offers to shortstop Trevor Story, catcher Tony Wolters, left-handed pitcher Tyler Anderson and right-handed pitchers Jon Gray, and Chad Bettis.
They can continue to try and negotiate a deal with each player prior to arbitration.
